I often see photos of Japanese temples and shrines, with people posing in front of them. I a not sure what purpose that serves. Maybe they jump from one place to another so fast, that they want to make sure they have visited the place already, in case they get confused. For me, the most important thing is what I can see, and also to sense the atmosphere of the place. And this is what I wish to keep in my memory. When you focus on hunting for spots to take photos of yourself in a given area, it is highly likely that you will miss the most intriguing factor, the salt and pepper - the details. In case of Japanese temples and shrines, those details are often more beautiful and more captivating than the whole scene. Photo - Ueno Toshogu shrine's roof.

I took this photo last year in Odaiba, during the new and vintage custom sports car show. There were many cars there, mostly new and highly customised ones, but a few enthusiasts of vintage cars brought their precious treasures from the past. One of them was Mr. Sasaki (below) who came in with his old Datsun, My guess this car is from the '30s, and since Datsun opened its production in 1931, this must have been one of the first models.
Although the newly built steel giant, the Tokyo Skytree, is now the tallest man-made structure in Japan, the Tokyo Tower is and always will be one of the most often visited landmarks of the Metropolis. Ironically, I went to the top of the Tokyo Tower only once, and it was some 13 years ago when I first arrived in Japan. This photo was shot last year when the tower was undergoing renovations. I might be going back there this year to photograph panoramas of Tokyo at night.
