Hire a photographer in Toky
Sensoji Temple in Asakusa is one of the largest temples in Tokyo, and you can find there many traditional Japanese structures. They are a great subject for architectural photography, and because they are old and refined in form and shape, and the temple has undergone a renovation not so long ago, you have a chance to capture many postcard-like shots, especially now, that the autumn colors start to pop out in Tokyo. I highly suggest you go there in the early morning hours, which is when all the hoards of tourists are still asleep in their hotel rooms. Another great time is in the late afternoon, especially on a sunny day, as the setting sun will amplify the tones of the whole scene.

If you are into photography or cinematography I am sure that at some point you have heard the phrase golden hour or magic hour. It is a term that defines the warm and soft sunlight which happens just after sunrise or shortly before sunset, when the sun angle is at the steepest. The reason for this type of light being simply amazing is twofold. One is that the light itself is much softer and warmer, and it produces less harsh shadows, and two is that it amplifies textures without making them look rough. The sun at such a low angle is being defused by a massive chunk of atmosphere that it has to piece through, which is also why its color is much redder and warmer. All in all, that is the most amazing time to take almost any photos, but especially landscapes, cityscape shots and portraits. This portrait that you see below was taken by me during one of the private photography workshops that I led here in Tokyo, and I took it to explain a few interesting things, like back light, exposure locking technique, and how to shoot against the sun smiling straight through the lens.

Hire a photographer in Toky Street photography is all about capturing the moment, telling a story and being there a split second before th shot happens. I often feel as if I was invading privacy of people on the street whenever I was about to "steal" a shot, but sometimes I just cannot help it. Last time I was in Odaiba, I managed to capture a smashing portrait of this girl, looking far off to the distance, wrapped in a beautiful warm sunset light. There was a rush of tourists and passers by around her, and she was just turned off for a second or two. When you out there with a camera, look around you, good photos are happening all the time, you just have to be there with your mind and spirit when they do.

Hire a photographer in Toky Dragons can be found everywhere in Asia, from architecture, through religion, poetry, politics, to occult and literally every single aspect of life. I absolutely love finding and photographing dragons wherever I can. So here is a dragon fountain at the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa in Tokyo. The fountain is located just outside the main temple structure, and is usually surrounded by tourists like a bee hive, but if you are patient you can find the spot and wait for a moment when there is no one there, or visit the temple in the early morning. The temple area is a fantastic place for street photography, you can capture there rikshaw drivers, Japanese gitrs wearing kimono, or take photos of traditional Japanese stores, selling craft and folk items.

Hire a photographer in Toky Another street shot that I have taken last week in front of the main gate of the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa in Tokyo. I rally like the full of passion and enthusiasm face expression of the rikshaw driver who is doing his best to convince potential customers to take a ride on one of the rikshaws. This is a second time that I took a photo of this guy, I actually remeber him from a year ago or so. The crossing in front of the temple is an amazing spot for street photography, you can just sit down, mount a telephoto on your camera and wait for a shot to just appear.

Hire a photographer in Toky If you are following my photography blog with hundreds of photos of Japan, then you know how Shimbashi looks at night. It is amazing and I absolutely love all the street lights, reflections, and so on. But on a sunny day like we had today, Shimbashi offers some spectacular views for street photography or architecture photography enthusiasts. I was actually in the area on a client request, doing some photography work there, and since I had to wait for a proper light to accomplish my task, I had a few minutes to kill, so I took a few shots on the way. Here is one of them! Enjoy!

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Street photography is all about letting the moment come to you. Once you find a spot, it is better to wait for a photo than chase it. Patience and preparation are a virtue. Here is a shot that I captured teaching photography workshops in Tokyo. This lovely street with traditional Japanese craft items stores imitating the Edo period era is located near the Sensoji temple in Asakusa. The temple itself is great and offers phenomenal subject for photography, but I prefer those small streets around the temple. They are just loaded with things to capture. Literally, each turn your head takes there is another shot waiting to be taken. So here it is, four young Japanese girls strolling down the street in kimonos during sunset hours.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo I snapped this today in Asakusa in Tokyo, just in front of the Sensoji temple, which is one of those places haunted by tourists like an old mansion in a movie. Thanks to this, and other attractions, like traditional riksha drivers, the place is a gold mine for any type of photography, but especially for street photography. It allows you to blend in and wait for the photo to come before you, which is what most of us photographers do often times. What I like about this shot, aside the traditional outfit they all wear, and the old Japan feel to it, that each of those three main subjects has a completely different attitude and body language. The guy near the bride is stressed like a kid before his vaccination, fair is fair, he just got married so he should be, the girl owns the scene and is on top of things, she is actually looking straight at me. And the riksha driver looks pro, powerful but elegant, which corresponds with the occasion. I converted it to black and white for two reasons, one - I thought it will look more toned down and classy, and two, that guy on the right hand side of the frame was wearing a jacket so yellow, it would make a canary look pale.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo The typhoons can be scarey and intimidating, though thankfully once they reach Tokyo the are usually weakened by the time they spent moving above the land. We do get heavy winds and lots of rains during typhoons, but it is all worth to go through if you can shoot sunsets like this one afterwards. Every time after a storm or a typhoon, the evening skies are completely insane, lit up with all possible shades of yellow orange and red. It is really cloudy and still pretty humid, but although invisible, the Mt.Fuji is somewhere there below the setting sun.
