Currently, I am re-editing all my kids and family shots, and yesterday I created a long photoshop tutorial on portrait photo editing, which I will publish tomorrow. I used this very photo, so you can see how I post processed it. Tutorial will be published on my Youtube channel and my other blog on the Ryuurui's Art Studio website.
Kids - one of the most favourite subject of mine to photograph. Although kids are not easy to capture, as they move fast as a lightning, and can randomly change their mood and face expression, their genuine and natural behaviour is a feast for anyone who knows how to read human emotions, and can relate or attune to a child-like mind. Photographing the little ones is not only rewarding but a great physical exercise as well, since you have to chase after them with your camera. And trust me, you are dead while they still jump around like the tiger in Winnie the Pooh. Shooting kids is also a great test of you composition skills, controlling the light, and people skills. No time to think, you have to act or it is too late.

Architecture is a great subject for HDR photography, especially when shot in the evening or at night. It has been a while since I created a proper HDR image, and this time I decided to play with the photo details even more. I used photoshop pen tool for selecting some areas in the photo, which is a technique often used for masking during creating fine art black and white photos, and those were the top of the roof, the backlit building's middle section, the section above the glass entrance, the metal panels to the left, and the concrete ground. All those areas received a separate treatment, I also added a quite complex and selective vignette, and some flares to all the lights at the base of the building. Photo was shot at a very low angle, with the lens almost touching the ground. Photo was taken in Kaihin Makuhari (海浜幕張) area, vis a vis the Makuhari Messe.
The typhoon has passed over Tokyo almost without any rain, which was against any weather forecasts. Nonetheless, anytime such massive weather system passes over, the skies are magnificent. I shot this photo today morning, at 4:40am, just after the earthquake, once my tripod stopped shaking. It is a single exposure shot, though it may look like HDR. Enjoy the angry skies over Tokyo, I know I did.
Tokyo station is one of those few buildings in Tokyo of which architecture is completely different from other buildings. It reminds me of old European structures. Tokyo station was recently renovated, so it might be a good time to visit it and take some shots. Near the station's main entrance there is a view deck, from which interesting panoramic photos can be taken. I took this photo last winter, and I gave it today a new look, enjoy!
Summer in Tokyo is very humid, and the air is extremely hazy, which accounts for smashing sunrises. Unfortunately there are not many cloudy evenings, and skies are often clear, so it is quite difficult to catch an interesting sunset. During the hottest season sun comes up just after 4am, and after 6am on winter, so if you want to it on camera, you need to wake up really early. Calligraphy art: 夏日 / summer sun.
