Hire a photographer in Tokyo
I actually shot this during one of photography workshop that I was running a few days ago in Odaiba, and took this photo for two reasons, one was to explain the basics of night photography using this amazing vista in Tokyo, and two was to test the dynamic range of my new camera. I often shoot a few exposures in order to get the best blend of light and dark areas, but this time I decided to go for on exposure only and see how it goes. The result is really nice, I actually love this shot. I had to reduce the height of one building in photoshop as it was too tall and was ruining the composition, but if I have not told you that you would have no idea it was done, would you? I will upload a video to my youtube channel in which I am explaining easy and quick fixes to composition and coloring, so have a look there later on and see which building was shrunk.

This is by far one of the coolest and most unusual train station entrances in Tokyo, and possibly Japan. The Tokyo station building is over 100 years old, and it is clearly modeled on European architecture. Today, after renovations, the Marunouchi exit is a mixture of metal pillars with a Victorian style of architecture, so it does look a bit like a robot wearing a tutu, but it still is an original piece of structure. All in all, the patterns the shapes, colours and commotion create a great subject for architectural or street photographers. When I was editing this photo yesterday, I actually though that this place is perfect for a vertical panoramic photoshop stitch, so once the typhoon clears out and I have a day without any photography workshops or photo shoots, I wil pop our there and reshoot from a slightly different perspective.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Here is a photo of a statue of the famous samurai and architect of Muromachi period, Ota Dokan (15th century), who is best known as the founder of the Edo Castle, or in other words the Tokyo Imperial Palace. His statue, made of bronze, is erected inside of the very modern structure of Tokyo International Forum. The contrast between the traditional image of a samurai against one of the most futuristic architectural designs made of steel and glass creates a fantastic contrast. I was revisiting this place today with one of my photography students, and took this photo just before the sunset. Beautiful side lighting on the statue and reflections and sparkling structure elements of the TIF looked amazing.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo I took this shot yesterday, from the exact same spot as this picture. It is a great view from one of the terraces of the Tokyo Fuji Television building in Odaiba. I really like that spot, and if shot with a telephoto lens it compacts all that tight architecture and infrastructure of Tokyo into a maze of lines and lights. On a side note, I was re-calibrating my monitors yesterday, as I felt that my photos may have been a bit too dark and too contrasty, so now I am trying new settings. Not sure if you guys will see any difference on your screens, but feel free to leave your comments below if you do.

I shot this today while roaming Odaiba with one of my photography students. I love Odaiba to bits, and although I am not too crazy about anime and manga, Gundam statue is wicked. Robots, especially giant ones, are fun. and this statue there is huuuuuuge so always fun to shoot. From some angles, if separated from the surroundings with a telephoto lens, Gundam looks as if he was strolling among the buildings, like on a movie set. So I was taking some snaps while using Gundam for explaining depth of field and its relation to various focal lengths of lenses. Enjoy the view guys!

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Today we had the so called Blood Moon in Tokyo caused by a total eclipse. Now, if you know how the moon travels upon the evening sky, you will know the best time to shoot it. Since I do not have a powerful telephoto with a focal length larger than 500mm, which would actually allow me to capture the Moon and fill the frame with it, I do not really see a point in taking shots of a small red dot on the sky. I also well knew that the best time to shoot the autumn moon in Tokyo is after sunset, but if you wait too long, it will go high up on the sky and the whole photo taking idea loses its meaning. So, instead of taking the shot of blood moon, I went for the yellow moon an hour and half before the eclipse, and managed to capture this smashing view of rooftops of central Tokyo from the view deck located near Tokyo station.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo The moment I took this, I knew I will have lots of fun editing this photo. What you see here are elevated walkways around the Shimbashi station in Tokyo which are a phenomenal sunject for night photography, and HDR in particular. All those lovely reflections and glass, and the office buildings around the place will make you want to shoot there all night long. The sky on that day was not too interesting, so I added a planet. It adds a lot to the futuristic feel of the area. I think I have to shoot there some photos for my cyborg photoshop manipulation series to have some cool background for composite photography, or actually go there with a model and have fun with flash photography. This photo is a manual blend of 7 exposures, some were chosen for the passers by, some for the street lights and some for the sky. If you want to learn more about photoshop and manual blending, visit my Youtube channel (link's below).

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Finally the summer is over, and we have slightly colder evenings. The sun does not burn you alive and one can breathe outside. I cannot tell you how much I hate running around Tokyo during summer with all the camera gear on my back. Autumn is always welcome and winter even more so. Soon the new season for shooting long distance panoramas in crystal clear and crisp air will begin and we can all chase shots like this one.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Here is another black and white shot of the Fuji Television building in Odaiba, Tokyo. Great piece of architecture, accessible from virtually any angle, including the elevated terrace of which fragment you can see up there in the right corner of this photo. I had fun editing this shot, I gave it a milky black and white finish, which fits the sunny yet hazy weather of summer time Tokyo. I said this many times but I will say it again, Odaiba is a crazy place for photographers of any kind, but if you enjoy shooting architecture as I do you will have a blast there for days or even weeks.
