I really do not think that it is possible to run out of things to photograph anywhere in the world, but Tokyo is simply perfect for street photography. You walk outside and things just happen all day long. I captured this image on my way to a station near Yurakucho, which is a district full of small bars, stores, older architecture buildings mixed with new structures. It is really quite brilliant for street photography, especially in black and white. This would not work in color, but in monochrome it gains power through contrast, structured sections, dynamic lines, and rather loud content but it works perfectly. If you are visiting Tokyo and would like to book street photography or travel photography workshops with me, contact me directly and we can schedule it.

Anyone who enjoys traveling loves capturing images from their adventures. Unfortunately, in most cases people are not photographers, and all they get are rather bad looking snapshots. If one travels alone they have to ask others to take photos of them, and if you are with someone, you will still have to ask a random person to photograph the two of you together. Traveling can be expensive, and Japan is probably one of the most expensive countries you could visit. Further, it is not that easy to get around without being able to speak Japanese, and easily find and access places, especially in Tokyo, which can be intimidating even for people who live in larger cities. If you plan on visiting Tokyo and wish to bring home travel photos that capture not just yourself standing looking stiff in front of a famous building, but want images that reflect the real atmosphere of the Metropolis with yourself seamlessly blending with the surroundings, or you want photos that will be cinematic or much more artistic and appealing in nature, photos that would be unique, then why not consider booking a professional photographer to assist you during your visit. Some things happen once in a lifetime, it is up to you to make them count.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Buy original Chinese and Japanese calligraphy art Check out my new portrait photography website! I took this shot yesterday, from the exact same spot as this picture. It is a great view from one of the terraces of the Tokyo Fuji Television building in Odaiba. I really like that spot, and if shot with a telephoto lens it compacts all that tight architecture and infrastructure of Tokyo into a maze of lines and lights. On a side note, I was re-calibrating my monitors yesterday, as I felt that my photos may have been a bit too dark and too contrasty, so now I am trying new settings. Not sure if you guys will see any difference on your screens, but feel free to leave your comments below if you do.

Today we had the so called Blood Moon in Tokyo caused by a total eclipse. Now, if you know how the moon travels upon the evening sky, you will know the best time to shoot it. Since I do not have a powerful telephoto with a focal length larger than 500mm, which would actually allow me to capture the Moon and fill the frame with it, I do not really see a point in taking shots of a small red dot on the sky. I also well knew that the best time to shoot the autumn moon in Tokyo is after sunset, but if you wait too long, it will go high up on the sky and the whole photo taking idea loses its meaning. So, instead of taking the shot of blood moon, I went for the yellow moon an hour and half before the eclipse, and managed to capture this smashing view of rooftops of central Tokyo from the view deck located near Tokyo station.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo The moment I took this, I knew I will have lots of fun editing this photo. What you see here are elevated walkways around the Shimbashi station in Tokyo which are a phenomenal sunject for night photography, and HDR in particular. All those lovely reflections and glass, and the office buildings around the place will make you want to shoot there all night long. The sky on that day was not too interesting, so I added a planet. It adds a lot to the futuristic feel of the area. I think I have to shoot there some photos for my cyborg photoshop manipulation series to have some cool background for composite photography, or actually go there with a model and have fun with flash photography. This photo is a manual blend of 7 exposures, some were chosen for the passers by, some for the street lights and some for the sky. If you want to learn more about photoshop and manual blending, visit my Youtube channel (link's below).

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Here is another black and white shot of the Fuji Television building in Odaiba, Tokyo. Great piece of architecture, accessible from virtually any angle, including the elevated terrace of which fragment you can see up there in the right corner of this photo. I had fun editing this shot, I gave it a milky black and white finish, which fits the sunny yet hazy weather of summer time Tokyo. I said this many times but I will say it again, Odaiba is a crazy place for photographers of any kind, but if you enjoy shooting architecture as I do you will have a blast there for days or even weeks.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Tokyo International Forum is in fact a alien spacecraft that crash landed in the middle of Tokyo., inside which you can find a portal to another dimension. Ghosts of the alien species were seen by many visitors. This led to a belief that the place is haunted, which is why its upper floor are usually deserted. The writing on the portal gate becomes visible only when you stare at the pillar for 5 minutes without blinking, while touching with both hands the glass panels leading to the portal. The writing on the portal is in ancient Chinese script, known as seal script, and reads: 別天地, which means "another world". Several people attempted to cross the portal but with no success. This photo is a rare capture of the portal gate writing glowing in the evening.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo I shot this photo earlier this year I think, but I was never satisfied with any of its edit versions... till today. I realised that all those people passing by are wearing white, and only one girl is in black. So I came up with an idea of a warped image of a fallen angle among the crowd of rushing salary man in Asakusa. In the background you can see the Tokyo Skytree and the famous Asahi Beer Hall building. This photo is a combination of a few editing techniques, including digital blending, black and white conversion, composite photography, and lots of fun with filters. Hope you guys like it!

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Although I have a great artistic appreciation for street photography, and capturing all those little moments that are there and then gone in a split second, I somehow feel that it is quite invasive and steps on someone's intimate moment in life. This is why I rarely take typical street shots, even though I can see thousands of amazing images producing themselves when I am out there shooting. Still, sometimes I cannot resits the itch and I have to scratch it. I shot this in Asakusa, I went there to photography the Sensoji temple and its surroundings. This is a new edit of this image, I gave it a completely different look, and went for a washed out, an old color photo look. That crossing in front of the temple gates is a smashing spot to shoot riksha drivers, there are plenty of them, and I think they enjoy being photographed.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo The entire Shimbashi area is an absolute feast for an architecture photographer. The glass, the angles, the countless spots to capture amazing shots of a modern city like Tokyo. I am preparing for creating a long timelapse video of Tokyo at night, and Shimbashi is definitely down on my list. Just above my head there is a Yurikamone elevated train, which also offers amazing views of Tokyo. To the left there is this view, and Dentsu building from which you can shoot smashing night panoramas of Tokyo such as this one. Then again behind me there is this building. Honestly, each turn there is a photo to be taken!
