Hire a photographer in Tokyo
Although I have a great artistic appreciation for street photography, and capturing all those little moments that are there and then gone in a split second, I somehow feel that it is quite invasive and steps on someone's intimate moment in life. This is why I rarely take typical street shots, even though I can see thousands of amazing images producing themselves when I am out there shooting. Still, sometimes I cannot resits the itch and I have to scratch it. I shot this in Asakusa, I went there to photography the Sensoji temple and its surroundings. This is a new edit of this image, I gave it a completely different look, and went for a washed out, an old color photo look. That crossing in front of the temple gates is a smashing spot to shoot riksha drivers, there are plenty of them, and I think they enjoy being photographed.

One would think that the great thing about events such as this is that you can shoot photos like mad. Everyone there is an exhibitionist, and they likes to have pictures of themselves taken. Partly it is true, but not in Japan. The organizers made people line up to each cosplayer, then have a quick chat, and then shoot. Now, I wanted to shoot photos of other people taking photos as that is much more fun and interesting. It tells a story instead of being a static posed portrait. I was being bugged every 5 min by the staff, telling me either that I have to line up or that I need permission to shoot. This is so typical for Japan that I didn't even get pissed off. Still, I have managed to grab a few cool photos the way I wanted it, and here is one. Mt friend Tristan helping one of the cosplaying Japanese girls to fix the ribbon of her maid outfit that came loose. Those types of events are a great place to practice your portraiture photography skills, as you have to be quick with reacting and composing, and know your camera well to be able to readjust all the necessary settings on the fly. Model: Aota Yaya (pro cosplayer).

Hire a photographer in Tokyo The good thing of living in Tokyo is that there are tons of events going on every day. So, today, together with Tristan from Amazing Japan hit the Tokyo Game Show 2014 in Makuhari Messe. The event is massive, and occupies the space of 9 exhibition halls, and there are literally thousands of people there. For me personally, the most interesting was hall 9, with all the cosplay models. Sadly, whoever organised this event, has no knowledge of how light is important for photography, and placed all the cosplay models under a roof, and half of them stood up against a concrete wall. Seriously retarded idea. Nonetheless I managed to capture a few interesting shots, and here is one of them. Model's name was Akari.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo I captured this photo on my way back home after a photo shoot. If I packed my gear, I would not be able to capture this image. You really never know what image will produce itself in front of you; got to be ready all the time, or just lucky, like I was. Office workers return home quite late in Japan. Lots of them works crazy overtime hours, treating their companies like shrines. Ladies are no exception here, some of them work 12h - 17h a day or more. I am not really a street photographer, I prefer architecture photography, but sometimes I snap a shot or two if I see something that catches my eye. This image did, and so I am sharing it with you.

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Being a photographer is a funny thing. We take 1000s of photos of everything that interests us, but usually have a very few photos of ourselves. So, when I visited the Tokyo Big Sight yesterday, I decided to snap a selfie. There was a massive storm passing over my head, and when I got off the train it must have just stopped raining, because the roads were still wet. That cloud in a distance was smacked by lightning, and the whole scene looked awesome. The warmth of the lights and the fury of the storm, falling night, and so on - I thought this is a cool spot and time for a selfie. Small tip for you - forget the cable release, and buy a remote control for your camera. It will pay off. On a side note, Tokyo Big Sight is a smashing place for architecture photography, I reckon that place alone provid My Youtube channel with free photoshop tutorials Buy fine art photo prints at my store on SmugMug. When I saw this backlit steel staircase, I could not resit to have a bit of multiple exposure fun. I sent a long exposure and asked my wife to run up and down the stairs a few times, and then I put all those shots into one. I also did a bit of photoshop jiggery-pokery with the ceiling lights to make them fit the composition better. I think I will reshoot this photo once more one day, and maybe change the perspective to lower, so the top shadow's head will contrast with the window. Other than that I love that shot.

For a change, here is a shot of me taking a photo on 46th floor of Dentsu Building in Shimbashi. The view over there is fantastic, and this site (Tsukiji, Rainbow Bridge) is free of charge. There is a small view deck there, near the stairs. The other side, on the other hand, is not free, and you have to enter one of the restaurants. The good news is that tripods are allowed, and windows are clean and with a small ledge. The whole area of Shimbashi is a fantastic place for any architecture photographer.

I am not sure how many times I was in Odaiba continuously seeking new spots for taking photos of the night panorama of Tokyo and the Rainbow Bridge. This time, however, I decided to take a slightly different approach and use the panorama of Tokyo as a background, as an element while composing my photos. Sometimes it is good to work the same scene many times, to challenge your imagination and creativity, and see with how many good compositions you can come up with. Odaiba is a fascinating place for any photographer, as there is so much to shoot, you could spend there a month and still have things to photograph. Anyways, here is my final shot, and I have also recorded a full length photoshop workflow (about 1h long) on how I created this photo with details commentaries on the process. It is a particularly tricky shot to edit, as the composition is based on 3 layers: the Tokyo city, the Rainbow Bridge and the people on the view deck. On top of this the scene is backlit by a sunset, yet the city lights are already popping out. So there is lots to juggle and consider during the editing. The final photo is a digital blend of a few exposures. Enjoy!

No matter what day of the week, Tokyo is always packed with people. Winter, summer, rain, heat, day and night, no matter, there are people everywhere flowing back and forth in smaller and larger streams. Some places are more crazy than others, like Shibuya or Odaiba, etc. I snapped this photo on my way to capture that panorama of Tokyo with a Rainbow bridge, which you can see in the background. This photo is a blend of three different black and white photos, created from one exposure and mixed in photoshop.
