Lots of photographers panic when they see harsh sunlight outside, and prefer to shoot during overcast or on a cloudy day, when the light is evenly cast and much more soft. I, on the other hand, love hard light, strong shadows and powerful textures, they are the soul of an image. Portraits are more dynamic, and, if you know how to use the light and how to control it, they can still be soft and dreamy. I love this photo, definitely one of my favorite portraits, I knew I want to go vintage black and white with it. The hat, the sun, the dress, the expression, t all fits. Get your gear out in hard sunlight and explore what you can do with it. Model: Rita.

And photos have to be taken in time, you are competing with the sun! When the light is gone, no more shadows, no more scene.

Then I use external flashes and I create my own light, like I did here http://www.ryuurui.com/blog/single-light-night-time-urban-portrait-photography-in-tokyo
